Romania : Sibiu

Technical study of the water treatment plants, waste water treatment plants, networks of the city of Sibiu (205.000 inhabitants).

The water supply network is 325 km long. Due to the condition of the out-dated equipments and the lack of proper maintenance, water supply service is not continuous. Losses are estimated at 35 %. The activities of this component aim at the improvement of the potabilisation process and the distribution network.

The sanitation network is 30 years old and 250 km long. The waste water treatment plant has a capacity of 1000 l/s. Maintenance has been neglected the last years and, moreover, the plant is under-dimensioned, due to the increase of population.

The studies aimed at the rehabilitation of the sanitation network and the increase of the plant’s capacity to 1500 l/s.
