Roumania : Botosani

The city of Botosani, located in the far North-East of Romania, has 120 000 inhabitants. The water supply and sanitation networks don’t comply with the European Union’s norms and regulations.

The project had to identify the needs and to propose the necessary investments in order to upgrade the networks and means of production.

Water supply and sanitation networks have been modelised ; a master plan for the development has been defined and urgent investments have been identified and suggested.

A GIS application has been developed for the support of the propositions.

In order to define precisely the demand in drinking water, the consumers database (billing department of the water company) has been linked to the mathematic model (under WaterCad and ArcMap environments).

Moreover, the main raw water pipe, partially build above the ground, had stability problems due to the terrain erosion. .
